Part of Greco’s highly regarded Mint Collection series, this 1992 EGC-480 captures everything that made Japanese-built Les Paul Customs so desirable during the late 80s and early 90s. Built in Japan and finished in classic Ebony Black with multi-ply binding and gold hardware, it delivers the look, feel and sound that helped establish Greco as one of the most respected names in Japanese guitar manufacturing.

This example has clearly been played and enjoyed over the years and is best described as a player’s guitar rather than a collector’s piece. The finish shows numerous dings, chips, scratches and general cosmetic wear across the body, edges and headstock, all of which can be seen in the photographs. The gold hardware has developed tarnishing and plating wear consistent with age, while one of the pickup rings has a crack. There is also evidence of previous strap lock installation and some replacement control knob parts.

The good news is that none of this affects its playability. The neck is straight, the truss rod functions correctly, the frets still have plenty of life remaining and the guitar plays exactly as it should. It has recently been serviced in Japan, including cleaning, fresh strings, truss rod adjustment, action setup and fret dressing before making its way to the UK.

At 8lb 14.5oz (4.03kg), it sits in a very comfortable weight range and feels every bit the solid Les Paul Custom. The pickups deliver the rich, punchy tones you’d expect, with plenty of sustain and clarity whether clean or driven.
