Artist Susan Fullenbaum "Not by might, nor by power, but by My spirit" is the translation of the Hebrew quote from Zechariah 4:6 The historical holiday of Hanukkah is the story of the unlikely victory of the Maccabees over the Syrian King Antiochus and his army. God must have been on the side of the Maccabees "by his spirit" as the odds were totally against the small group of fighters. Each piece of glass in this Hanukkah menorah has been hand cut, wrapped in copper, and soldered to form the panel in the background. The blue sky sections of the menorah have been sandblasted with their Hebrew and then soldered to the rest of the sections before the base is attached. The final construction is one of adding the nine candle holders - eight for the eight nights of the holiday and one, the Shammos, to light the other candles each night. The candle holders are in a straight line with the Shammos separate and taller. This configuration means the specifications of a kosher menorah. Size - 11 1/2 x 8 x 3"
