The Boss GK-5 is a next-generation divided pickup engineered to interface directly with BOSS’s Serial GK system, bringing advanced synthesis and instrument modeling capabilities to electric guitars outfitted with steel strings. Unlike traditional pickups that collapse the signal from all six strings into a single output, the GK-5 tracks each string independently. This allows for real-time string-by-string processing in compatible Serial GK products, opening up a range of tonal manipulations that standard electronics simply can't touch.
Physically, the GK-5 is streamlined and lightweight, with a flat, low-profile pickup design that accommodates most standard electric guitars without obstructing playability. Its connector housing is compact and mounts cleanly to a guitar’s strap button via the included bracket, keeping it secure and unobtrusive. For Les Paul-style instruments, a dedicated bridge attachment plate is also included. The GK-5 uses a digital connection with stable signal transmission, ensuring clean integration with your synth or V-Guitar rig. When paired with the dedicated BOSS BGK cables, the system delivers reliable, high-fidelity performance optimized for the Serial GK protocol.
