Dit is de top wijn van Chateau Lauriga, en we schrijven TOP maar met hoofdletters want dit is een stukje vakwerk. De oude wijngaarden en wijnhuis waren jaren lang in bezit van de Frans-Catalaanse familie Clar. Een aantal jaar geleden kreeg Jean-Claude Mas de kans om het familiedomein over te nemen. Jean-Claude hoefde niet lang na te denken wat hij kende de wijnen en de mooie wijngaarden al. Familie Clar was blij met de overname want er was helaas geen opvolging meer vanuit de familie. Wel wilde de familie dat de wijnen en hun wijngaarden geborgen bleven en hiermee is de geschiedenis van familie Clar een feit. Er is veel geïnvesteerd maar ook veel kennis ingebracht bij Chateau Lauriga en dat heeft de kwaliteit van wijnen goed gedaan. De wijnen zijn internationaal beroemd en ook bij ons heeft hij ons hart veroverd.

De beste witte wijn van Chateau Lauriga

Deze top wijn is opgebouwd uit de druiven Grenache Gris en Macabeo die opgroeien aan wel zeer oude wijnstokken tot wel 45 jaar oud. De oude wijngaard ligt in het mooi Côtes des Catalanes in het zuiden van Frankrijk. De bodem structuur is uniek en bevat een schatkamer aan bouw stoffen voor de witte druiven soorten. Het perfecte klimaat draagt bij aan en gelijkmatig opgroeien van de druiven en deze worden met de hand geoogst. Alle trossen voor deze Chateau Lauriga Soleil Blanc worden zeer streng geselecteerd waardoor de oogst super zuiver is. Na de eerste persing ondergaat deze witte wijn en houtlagering voor wel tien maanden. Het hout heeft zijn invloed op de wijn en het resultaat is een zeer krachtige witte wijn met een loep zuivere nasmaak.

Maar dat was al duidelijk toen wij deze wijn proefden. Lichtgele kleur met groene reflectie. De geur is intens en origineel met geroosterde tonen en aroma's van perzik en peer. De smaak is vol en krachtig en op de tong proefden wij licht zoethout. De Chateau Lauriga Soleil Blanc vertoont een mooie frisheid en een rijke structuur met veel rijp fruit, vanille en gebrande noten.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4. Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.
