Waarom bamboe boven hout verkiezen? 

Bamboe en hout hebben in veel opzichten dezelfde positieve eigenschappen; bamboe is zelfs nog iets sterker dan hout. Waar een groot verschil zit is in de groeisnelheid van de materialen. Een boom tientallen jaren nodig heeft om groot te worden. Bamboe daarentegen, kan al sneller worden geoogst. Hierdoor maakt het deel uit van een korte koolstofkringloop, wat betekent dat bij het oogsten geen "oude" CO2 vrijkomt. Ook herstelt de plek waar de bamboe geoogst is zich sneller.
