Wielericoon Jacques Anquetil, geboren op 8 januari 1934 in Mont-Saint-Aignan, Frankrijk, wordt gezien als een van de grootste wielrenners aller tijden. Met zijn elegante stijl en verbluffende tijdritcapaciteiten domineerde hij de wielersport gedurende bijna twee decennia. Anquetil schreef geschiedenis door als eerste renner ooit vijf keer de Tour de France te winnen (1957, 1961, 1962, 1963 en 1964). Daarnaast liet hij zijn klasse zien met overwinningen in grote rondes zoals tweemaal de Giro d'Italia (1960, 1964) en eenmaal de Vuelta a España (1963), waarmee hij de eerste renner werd die alle drie de grote rondes op zijn naam schreef.

Ter ere van Jacques Anquetil brengt REDTED nu het speciale wielershirt 'Le Maître' uit. Jacques Anquetil

Anquetil stond bekend om zijn elegante rijstijl, superieure tijdritvaardigheden en zijn strategische inzicht. Zijn bijnaam 'Maître Jacques' (Meester Jacques) kreeg hij vanwege zijn autoriteit en dominantie in het peloton. Hij was een renner die altijd kalm bleef onder druk en feilloos wist wanneer hij moest toeslaan. Deze unieke kwaliteiten hebben ons geïnspireerd om dit wielershirt de passende naam 'Le Maître' te geven.

Jacques Anquetil overleed op 18 november 1987, maar zijn legende leeft voort. I have owned many sheepskins before and this one is by far the best deal. Cheaper than similar sizes, but not in a bad way! It’s a beautiful creamy white, super plush, and is very long. We keep it on the back of our couch and it gives a very cozy vibe. I haven’t had any issues with it shedding. Word of advice for cat owners: When we first got it, it did have a sheepskin smell but it isn’t a gross smell and it went away within a few days; however, my cat was very attracted to that smell and was “attacking” the sheepskin. We trained her not to do it just by spraying her with water—after a few times of that she stopped going anywhere near it. Now that the smell has dissipated, she isn’t attracted to it anymore but does like to sit on it every once and awhile (I can’t blame her, it’s sooooo soft). I saw someone else say their cat ruined their rug, so I wanted to give our story on how we prevented that and hopes it helps another cat owner. You just have to be alert for the first day, maybe even let it off-gas outside first, then keep a spray bottle nearby and the cat should stop messing with it!
