Valli Bendigo Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir 2017"A delicious example of Bendigo Pinot Noir in an almost opulent style with plump, dark fleshed plum, dark berries with floral and spice notes. A beautifully layered, powerful wine that's accessible now but has a promising future" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jan 2019 "Full, even, dark ruby red colour with slight purple hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegantly proportioned and poised with excellent concentration and depth

"Full, even, dark ruby-red colour with slight purple hues, youthful in appearance. The nose is elegantly proportioned and poised with excellent concentration and depth showing ripe black cherried and berried fruit with black plums, unfolding spices and liquorice with subtle notes of dark herbs and whole bunch stalk complexities. Medium-full bodied, the palate is packed and concentrated with a deep and driven core of ripe black cherry and berry fruit along with plums and liquorice, plus herbs and spices. The fruit has very good concentration and density and is underlined by plenty of fine-grained tannin extraction with balanced acidity. This has excellent linearity and carries with drive to a concentrated and sustained finish of black fruits, herbs and spices. This is a very concentrated and tightly bound black-fruited Pinot Noir with cherry, berry, plum and liquorice flavours and a firm, structured line. Match with lamb, beef, venison and semi-hard cheeses over the next 8-10 years. Clones 667, 777, 115, Abel and 5, from the ‘Zebra’ vineyard on Chinaman’s Terrace, vines planted 2006, fermented with 35% whole bunches to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 27 days on skins and 11.5 months in 31% new French oak. 8,696 bottles made" Raymond Chan, Sep 2018
"The 2017 vintage is a rich, very ripe style of Pinot Noir. Matured in French oak casks (31 per cent new), it is a deeply coloured, powerful wine, with strong plum/spice flavours and a finely poised, well-rounded finish. Best drinking 2021+" Michael Cooper
"This is wild, rugged pinot from the Bendigo terraces that delivers a deep wave of dark berry and black-cherry aromas and flavors. The shape and presence on the palate is bold. Exceptional quality here. Drink or hold" James Suckling, Jamessuckling.com
"Pure, unadulterated Pinot; unfined and unfiltered leaving all the good stuff in. There’s loads of concentration here but it retains a deftness on the mid palate. Highly aromatic with bags of black cherry, spice and . My only gripe is the alcohol is a little out of kilter (14%), which flattens the vibrancy of the fruit on the finish, leaving a sensation of heat" Rebecca Gibb, Master of Wine
"Since Valli’s Pinot Noir offerings span several subregions, it’s not unusual to see one or the other perform better under different vintage conditions. The 2017 Bendigo Vineyard Pinot Noir, from a cooler vintage but a warm site, is a fine effort, marked by herbal complexities and hints of wintergreen, cola, thyme and subtle dried spices. Black cherries and earth fill out the medium to full-bodied mid-palate, which shows a bit more muscle than the other wines in this vintage, finishing with silky but assertive tannins and a rustic edge" Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate
Deep garnet hue with bright fruit aromas of blackberry, cherry, and mulberry with toasted almond, coffee and cedar. Fresh summer berries on the palate with nutmeg, mushroom and earthy loam. A fresh and lively palate with fine tannins that build in the mouth with a long, vibrant finish. Bendigo in a cool season shows incredible energy with a powerful core. Bold and bright, this wine is intricately layered with chiseled beauty and incredible detail. Lively and inviting in its youth, this wine will also go the distance and is well worth cellaring!
