Šljivovica bezeichnet einen Obstbrand bzw. Rakijas aus Zwetschgen. Für guten Slivovitz, Sliwowitz oder Sljivovica werden nur die besten und süßesten Pflaumen verwendet. Um an richtig guten Stoff zu kommen, muss man in Serbien meist die richtige Familie kennen, denn die besten Schnäpse bzw. Rakijas werden oft immer noch für den Hausgebrauch gebrannt. Ironischerweis wurde die Šljiva (sprich: Schliwa; Pflaume) aus der Türkei nach Serbien gebracht. Die Ottomanen verboten Alkohol und den Anbau von Wein, aber die Pflaume und der daraus gebrannte Pflaumenbrand wurde hier zum Nationalsymbol.  Unser serbischer Pflaumenbrand aus der Destillery “Belgrade Urban Distillery” wird mindestens 3 Jahre in Eichenfässern gelagert und besticht durch seinen wunderbar fruchtigen Geschmack. Die ausgewählten und handverlesenen reifen Pflaumen stammt aus der Umgebung von Surdulica in Südserbien. Er wird zweifach destilliert und mit frischem Quellwasser auf 40% vol. Alkohol herabgesetzt.
